(52) David & Goliath

The Philistines had gathered their army for battle,
Saul also countered by gathering his army near the valley of Elah.
The Philistines and Israelites were facing each other
with the valley between them.

There was a giant warrior named Goliath, a Philistine.

He stood and shouted across to the Israelites,
"Let's just choose one from each army and
let them settle this dispute for us.
If your man can kill me, then we will be your slaves.
But if I kill him, you will be our slaves!
Come on! anyone?"

When Saul and Israelites heard this,
they were deeply terrified and scared.
and his shouting went on for 40 days.

David's brothers were with Saul at the valley.
One day Jesse, David's father, called David and
had him deliver breads to his brothers.

When David arrived at the valley and heard
what Goliath was shouting about,
he wanted to put an end to Goliath's abusing against Israel and God.

David persisted his case to Saul and
Saul finally consented.

Goliath walked toward David, and
noticed that he was jut a boy.
He cursed David by the names of his gods.

David replied back to Goliath,
"You come to me with sword, and spear,
but I come to you in the name of God.
God will conquer you today, and the world
will know that there is a God in Israel!
The battle belongs to God alone!"

Goliath moved closer to attack,
David reached into his bag and took a stone,
he hurled it from his sling and
hit Goliath in his forehead.

Goliath fell,
and David ran over and pulled Goliath's sword,
and finished Goliath.

When the Philistines saw their hero was dead,
they turned and ran.
