Saul urged his servants and his son Jonathan
to kill David.
But Jonathan told David what his father
was planning because of his close friendship with David.
Next day, Jonathan talked to his father about David,
"He has done only good things to you and Israel,
he has always helped you in every possible way,
please, don't harm him."
So Saul listened to him son and promised,
"As surely as God lives, I will not harm him."
Later, Jonathan called David and told him what had happened.
Jonathan also took David to see his father Saul.
One day, as David played his harp for Saul to ease his troubling mind,
Saul hurled his spear at David with an intention to kill him.
But David dodged out of the way and escaped.
