(82) Josiah's religious reforms

King Josiah began to rule over in Judah.

One day, Josiah summoned all the people in Judah.
He read to them the Book of the Covenant.
He confirmed all the terms of the covenant that were in the scroll,
and all the people pledged themselves to the covenant.

Then Josiah also had the high priest, Hilkiah, and
other leading priests and the temple gatekeepers
to remove everything that were used to
worship idols.

Josiah tore down the houses of the idols.
He destroyed the altars that the kings of Judah had built before.
He sent away the priests of the idols.

Even with this reformations,
God's anger still burned agaisnt Judah
because of all the great evils of the kings before Josiah.
